Well, first of all let me start by saying thank you for all the wonderful (and some not so wonderful) responses to my last ‘Comments From the Dev Team’ concerning Necromancy. Many of you had wonderful ideas, many of you complimented me on my honesty, and some of you even got responses from me. ;)

This week I’ve decided to talk about something else that’s kind of personal to me: the GM support staff. As some of you may know, I too was once a Game Master in the world of Ultima Online. I don’t want to say anything disparaging about anyone, but let me sum up the task of being a GM by saying that rarely does anyone call to tell you something is working properly.

The GMs handle each and every call to the best of their ability and with great aplomb. I would just like to give them a nice big “Huzzah!” Thank you GMs, for making my tasks easier, for handling the burden of supporting something that is not your creation with grace and composure, and for the generosity you show when we ask for feedback.

We as a Dev team can never really say ‘Thank you’ enough to our GM staff. This week we (the Dev Team) sponsored a lunch for the GMs’ benefit, and we gave awards to some very deserving people, but in reality, each and every one of you deserves a special award for what you do.

I, for one, know what it’s like to be in your position, as I was there once myself. I spent many long hours trying to help each individual player as much as I could. I’ve endured harsh comments and thanks. I’ve been praised for things I may not have done, and been criticized for things I was sure I hadn’t. Personally, I’m not sure I could do it again if I had to. And for that reason alone, I’m grateful to you all.
