Well, I guess the real question is how I got here and what I am doing now. Seems like the best way to do this, would be to tell you a little bit about how I got here first.

In 1995 I began playing multiplayer games on GEnie, Compuserve, and later America Online. Some of the games I played were Multiplayer Battletech, Legends of Kesmai, and Airwarrior. I played these games for about a year before applying to become an in game volunteer.

It was then that I learned what being a volunteer means and what the value of contributing to something greater was all about.

In 1998, Kesmai Studios hired me to be the Product Support Lead for Legends of Kesmai. As the Product Support Lead I was in charge of managing the day-to-day activities for the game. Some of those duties included managing the volunteer staff, game development, and email support. I held this role for two years till May of 2000, when Legends of Kesmai was retired, after a successful 15 year run.

For those who may not know, Legends of Kesmai was a 2D Fantasy multi-player graphic MUD, which was created in 1985. Legends of Kesmai like Ultima Online had a very active and dedicated community who established friendships and relationships in the game. Heck, some people even got married in real life (sound familiar to everyone?). It was this community’s dedication that showed me how important it is to provide quality customer support.

On a related note, the 22nd Ultima Online shard, which is hosted on America Online, was named “AOL Legends “ after Legends of Kesmai.

In July of this year I was asked to come to Origin Systems and work with Kal, Scorch, and TRasa as a Counselor and Companion Coordinator. I accepted and am still doing this today. I also am the Email Support Coordinator for Ultima Online, and manage a great group of people who do there very best to answer every email sent to [email protected] and provide information to help members of the Ultima Online Community.

Now, let me provide some information on my familiarity and knowledge of Ultima Online.

To give you a little background, I was and have been a great fan of Ultima Online, and the Ultima series. I first started with Ultima 1 (when I had a Commodore 64) and worked my way up to the latest chapter, Ultima IX: Ascension (which I solved J). To this day I still play Ultima Online, and intend to do so well into the future.

In closing, I am very glad to be part of the Ultima Online family and enjoy spending a great deal of time helping out my fellow coordinators with the Volunteer Program. I also like to come in once in a while and help people with questions they have in the game. So if you see a GM Guardian, that’s me.

I will also be attending the UO World Faire, so I look forward to seeing all of you there, and in the game.

Take care,

Guardian
