My travels had taken me through the central swamplands of Britannia, a path frought with danger. Foul gases puffed into the air by the bubbling quagmire made for an unpleasant journey, so I found myself marching very quickly until the air cleared, and swamply land gave way to rolling plains that stretched as far as the eye could see. Progress was fast across these flat, untamed lands, but largely uneventful. At times I doubted this new life I had chosen, and wondered if the adventure I longed for would ever come my way.

It had been exactly a week since I left my home, the open plains were but a memory now as thick trees smothered the land all around. I was trekking through one of my favourite Britannian regions, the mighty forest of Yew.

I must confess that the dark shadowy trees do not invoke fear in me as they do so many others, I have always found this forest very relaxing, indeed ‘tis an enchanting place. The early evening light sparkled as it shone between the trees, and I had been making fast progress along seldom trodden dirt tracks. Suddenly the dense foilage broke and I stumbled upon a wide dirt road. Deep ruts driven into the earth by heavy trade wagons assured me this was a well used route, and must be the main road to Yew town. Thinking it safer to not travel in the open, I made my way along using the cover of trees that lined its edges. Passing several small homes on the way I was surprised to see the spires of a large tower in the distance, and curious as to who could own such a marvellous building I made my way closer…

Guarding the doors were two heavily armoured sentrys, which despite my best efforts would not reply to my questions. “Fine, I’ll proceed anyway!” I exclaimed as I mounted the steps and swung open the large iron doors at the tower entrance.
