Interview with Cordicat

This was originally posted at UO-Europe.com [1].

Does Cordicat have any special meaning?

My online name for the last 7 or so years has been Cordelia, the name of my great grandmother. Cordicat was a nickname of Cordelia, as is Cordi and Cords. Cordicat seemed like a good name to choose, as it`s close to the online me yet brand new - for the UO role and my UO life.

What is your official job title?

European Online Community Manager. I work for EA Europe, with Origin.

What does your job involve?

Well, a lot of different things. :) I work closely with the OCR department at Origin to listen to the community. I`m talking to players, support staff, our other European territories. Increased awareness, increased communication, increased results, falls into my domain. I work with the newly hired European IGM, the UO Webmaster for Europe and this site, and the great GM support.

What do you like most about UO?

Hmm. So many things. Freedom and people. Being able to own and decorate your own home. Form a guild and make strong friends. Freedom to be who you want to be and do what you want to do, means game-play and an experience you could never expect. It`s a fantastically engrossing and involving existence, and the passion it brings is wonderful to behold.

Do you find that people expect you to be male?

Sometimes. *grin* Especially when I was first introduced on uo.com. I`d been doing a lot of work in Europe behind the scenes, and it was great to finally be able to talk directly with the Euro players, finding out what they liked, didn`t like, ideas and opinions. Nearly every email I got appeared to make the assumption that I was a man. I have no idea why.

Who is your favourite band?

At the moment, (it changes almost monthly) it`s a band called A Perfect Circle. I heartily recommend their new album called Mer De Noms. The month before, it was Incubus. The month before that..etc. etc.

What was the last film you saw?

Ooh.. let me see. Dogma on DVD. I get to films so late at the moment. I`m still trying to catch up.

What was the last book you read?

Biting The Sun, by Tanith Lee. A great train journey book, or when you`ve got some real time to sink into it.

What are you most commonly heard saying at the moment?

I think you`d be better off asking my coworkers here. *laugh* I`ve got a feeling they might say some stuff I`m not likely to be quoted on, and also `Is it buffalo!` Common usage is `Cordi, is this right?` Me: `Is it buffalo!`

What is your favourite colour?

Deep green.

What is your favourite piece of clothing?

My velvet long coat. I`d say. Useful for UK chilly weather. :)
