Justice Shrine Freezes Over

Author: [[UO:Jayde of Yew]] Published: July 1, 1999

There I was, sippin’ my ale at the local friendly tavern, the Silver Arrow, enjoying a spec of elven poetry and wine, when all of a sudden someone came running through the door announcing the ice critters were at it again. The place was packed, so packed it was impossible to catch all the names that were present.

A dismal sight awaited us as we all rushed to the site! There were bodies strewn all over.

Then it appeared. In the most horrible sight among the snow elementals and trolls was an ice fiend chanting odd spells we’d never heard of before.

“WARM ONES WATCH AS I PUT AN END TO THIS PLACE’S MAGIC”, it said.

With that, it began to chant.

An Sanct Mani
An Flam Mani
Kal Hur Rel
Uus Jux Corp
An Sanct Mani
An Flam Mani
Kal Hur Rel
Uus Jux Corp
An Sanct Mani
An Flam Mani
Uus Jux Corp

And finished with.. “IT IS DONE”

Horror ensued upon the falling of the ice fiend. The deed had been done, the shrine was frozen over and rendered useless.

“We failed! Look at the ankh!”
“Bloody ’ell..”
“It is frozen!”
“Not this shrine!!!!”
“He succeeded!”

A few tried to make light of the new look of the shrine, however, the dismal mood prevailed upon the crowd as the note was examined:

“Your time draws to a close, warm ones... Soon you shall all call Glacia master... and know what justice truly is”

Justice. Yew, the city of Justice, as well the outlying areas such as the city of Tel’Mithrim appear to be favored target of the so-called “Gelidum”. Why? Who is next? Is anywhere in the northern region safe?

“Ghosts res here!”

While many took advantage of this, the local wandering healers appeared to have a booming business as well as many stood in line, returned to their fallen bodies and picked up their things.

Commented Cameron the wandering healer, with a loud sigh. “Aye, tis good to feel needed, m’lady, but I cannae deny there are times when I wish I’d not be needed so often these days.”

The attacks just keep getting worse. Despite this, the brave souls at the Silver Arrow seem determined to keep up with their contests and events. As long as the wine keeps pouring and the lights still twinkle at the tavern, perhaps that beach vacation in Nujehl’m the boss recommended won’t be needed after all.
