These question takers will then present the questions to the Ultima Online evelopment/community/programming team here with us this evening. |
Kehleyr | Our question takers are: myself, Kiir & Lord‐Xanthor |
Kehleyr | I will be your moderator tonight... I will post your question into the House of Commons chat channel and the girls will answer those that they can. |
Kehleyr | Please remember that your question may have been asked previously or may not be able to be answered in a public forum. Please do not message or query myself or anyone from OSI, these questions will be ignored. We encourage you to read the logs of the previous Open Houses, which are available at http://uohoc.stratics.com |
Kehleyr | Tonight's topic is: Felucca Changes |
Kehleyr | All other questions will be ignored, so please only ask questions about the changes to Felucca :P |
* Adrick slays kehleyr * | |
Kehleyr | okok, guys not girls |
Kehleyr | settle |
Kehleyr | Kinship* On the proposed changes with regards to murderers and statloss: the changes as proposed seem to encourage the killer/victim activity in Felucca and seem geared towards bringing people over from Trammel only to hunt for skill scrolls (rather than to play regularly). Will any changes be added to help encourage people to own houses and play regularly in the overland areas of Felucca? |
Vex | Well, regarding playing in the overland, we have doubled the rate of resource gathering for wool, hides, wood, and metal. This means when you shear a sheep, cut a corpse for leather, mine, or lumberjack, you'll get twice the amount per use of the resource. |
Kehleyr | *Rager* The dev team has mentioned some PvP changes are in the works to ensure PvP balance after the release of power scrolls and prevent things such as one-hitters...can you tell us what is being planned? |
Adrick | we will be making several tweaks to such things as archery, field spells and also some changes to be certain that hybrid characters can advance using the skill scrolls as well as the pure classes, We are playtesting these changes internally and on the look out for situations where insta kills can occur - we hope to have all of this on external test center later on this month |
Kehleyr | na* Would this PvP patch, with the stats scrolls, be making the pre uo:r days viable again? ie. mages with hally can insta hit people and then cast? |
Adrick | we are not reinstating insta hit - although as you know precasting (hybrid characters) will continue to work the way it does now |
Kehleyr | *Dawn-a* On the looting changes slated to go in, don't you think leaving gems, gold, ingots, and lumber promotes the killing of people who are defenseless? one would think the changes should be reversed. and able bodied people, well equipped should lose their possessions. Not meager craftsmen |
Adrick | the idea is you wont lose anything you came in with - if you arent red of course - keep in mind the looting changes will only be active in the dungeons and lost lands - in the overland there are no looting changes |
Adrick | the above applies to fel only - there are no changes in tram :) |
Kehleyr | *LewSatWork* Innocents (blues) will no longer be able to negatively affect other innocents through the following area effects indirectly: purple potions, mass curse, meteor swarm, chain lightning, earthquake, fire field, poison field, paralyze field, blade spirits, or energy vortex. This applies to all of Felucca |
Kehleyr | This seems to imply that aperson could throw a meteor swarm into a group of people and only the criminals and reds will be affected by it. Will the innocents be targeted and just receive no damage or will it only target the criminals and murderers? As some spells have damage reduced by the |
Kehleyr | number of targets.i.e meteor swarm chainlightning |
Adrick | wow long question |
Adrick | ok rules of those changes are you cant go grey using them - they only do damage to legit targets - these include guild enemies, faction enemies, criminals, murderers - they will not harm guildmates |
Adrick | they also will not scale down if used on one red surrounded by 5 blues - they only will see one target and apply the full damage to that target |
Adrick | if a red uses one it will attack every target in range including his guildmates and other reds |
Kehleyr | *Megyn* Alot of people really seem to enjoy the evil in a can stuff currently available in Ilshenar, are there any plans to expand that program to other parts of the game? |
FierYiCe | Five areas will be added to the felucca dungeon, twelve areas will be added to felucca t2a. |
FierYiCe | You can also only get the skill and stat scrolls from the boss monsters from evil in a can in felucca only! |
FierYiCe | Please read http://update.uo.com/design_409.html for more info. |
Kehleyr | *Zombie* Will whole accounts go red if I make one certain character a murder? What changes will be made to the murders? Concerning counts, ect |
Adrick | the one red all red idea was scrapped |
Adrick | there are some changes to how counts will work though |
Adrick | they are |
Adrick | when you take stat loss your short counts are set to zero |
Adrick | you only get long term counts in the dungeon and lost lands of fel |
Adrick | also if you die in the lost lands or dungeon of fel your next res will not be a stat loss res |
Kehleyr | *Vic_Twenty* Will the doubling of resources in Felucca give fishers any increased incentive to fish on those seas, such as an higher chance to pull up a sea serpent, or higher chance that a sea serpent will carry one of the usual treasures? |
Hanse | Fishing resources were not doubled in Felucca with Publish 16. |
Hanse | So, there are not any bonuses for being on a specific facet and fishing. |
Hanse | Although, publish 16 does contain some changes to fishing. |
Oaks | Judging by the questions we're getting, there is still a lot of misunderstanding about Pub 16. I think it's better to clear that up rather than break new trails of confusion. |
Hanse | These changes include a bugfix and a small bonus to fish up existing items. |
Hanse | As well as sea serpents having spined leather and a new un-announced resource that can be fished up. |
Kehleyr | *JAck[BoH]* Is there going to be some type of check added so that a trammie can't just come in with an unblessed vanq and basically have it blessed? |
Adrick | the overland isnt changing so they will have to take care to get it to the dungeon |
Adrick | other than that as long as they dont go criminal or red there are no further checks on weapons planned |
Adrick | criminals and reds will drop 50% of their stuff upon death |
Kehleyr | *Snake_from_Napa* With the said changes to fishing, will the chances to pull up a serp be improved at all? |
Hanse | Yes, the chances are improved to pull up serpents with special items in them. The chance is very slight and was lower due to an existing bug. This is fixed in publish 16. |
Kehleyr | *Daragon* Take a character with 120 Magery, and 120 Evaluating Intelligence. If you think about it now, harms are already doing up to 20 hitpoints against people with GM Magic Resistance. Imagine with the added bonus. Are there any plans on lowering the damage or effects of the smaller circle spells? |
Adrick | we are playtesting it - harm does extra damage based on distance to target - we certainly will be looking for any issues like that - so far we havent seen outrageous damage but we have more testing to do |
Adrick | The bonus for the extra 20 magery is not huge but it will be observed in our tests on all spells both the high ones and low circles |
Kehleyr | *Jaelk* There is a concern amongst Habitual Trammel players that the inclusion of Skill and Stat Scrolls will directly impact their game play. Unless they are willing return to Felucca to participate in PvP or spend large amounts of gold. Neither of these solutions seem very palatable to this group. Does the team have any thoughts on why this group should excluded from having skills and stats above 100? |
Adrick | they will work in tram - we are not excluding those that do not wish to go and get them themselves - there will be those who get them and want to sell them |
Adrick | er theirselves - sorry |
Kehleyr | *Corwin* The Bounty System has always been a sort of PK hall of fame, and gives the PK a certain satisfaction seeing his name near the top. The bounty system is being removed, will a new system replace it in order to preserve the space for a successful PK's fame? |
Adrick | the bounty system was abused and is not really a true indicator of a *red hall of fame* for anyone can buy their way onto it, it was also a neat reward for taking stat loss - the idea of ladders and ranking systems is a good one - right now there are no plans to replace it with a new tracking system as the factions have with kill points. |
Kehleyr | *Siris* With GM magery you never fail 6th circle so with 125.00 magery will you never fail 7th and cast 8th much more? |
Hanse | That's correct. |
Kehleyr | *Nadia* Regarding the no recall into the dungeon/Lost Land areas with Publish 16, does that include Lost Land cities? |
Hanse | Yes, it includes the lost land cities... :) |
Kehleyr | *Sknort* With this double resource going in, will pk statloss be affected? Dungeon pking only? What is the purpose of risk vs reward in fel if you cant pk them while they are getting hides/wood, etc, and you can only do so in a Dungeon? Basically fel will be trammel with little felluca areas? |
Adrick | just to be clear you can be pked anywhere in fel (other than a city with guards) the difference is that in the overland areas the murderer can get stat loss and loot, in the dungeon/LL he takes no stat loss and may only loot gold/gems/cursed items |
Kehleyr | *Snake_from_Napa* Will guard zone areas in the Lost Lands be affected by the upcoming Felucca changes? And will Papua have any benefits thrown in to make it more appealing? |
Hanse | Guard zones are not changing in publish 16. |
Hanse | Papua already has a good benefit. |
Hanse | It has instant teleportation and is closer to many Champion spawn areas... |
Hanse | Instant teleportation meaning Papua<->Moonglow recdu recsu. |
Kehleyr | *Jaelk* Further to the question on Trammel players and Skill Scrolls. These items will sell for an extorionate amount gold. An amount that many will not be able to afford. Others, for moral reasons do not wnat to reward those who PK others. These players will not have access to the scrolls. What for them? |
Hanse | As with any new item added to the game, the prices will be extraordinary. |
Hanse | Unless the items are very common. |
Hanse | The skill and stat scrolls will eventually drop in price as players adjust their prices. |
Kehleyr | *Vic_Twenty* Will any of the "champion region" spawns occur in places of the Lost Lands either only accessable by ship, such as Terra Sanctum, or near open shorelines, and if so how do you plan on dealing with shoreline blocking issues that will result? |
Hanse | Yes, some regions are accessible only by ships. |
Hanse | If there is an issue with shoreline blocking to those locations, our support staff can evaluate the issue and take steps accordingly. |
Adrick | we have also added some teleporters into the spawn areas of evil in a can that are only available via boat - so there will be a choice - as hanse said any blocking issues can be dealt with by our support dept :) |
Adrick | although given that there will be a choice I expect they wont be as much if there wasnt the teleporters |
Kehleyr | *SnoWPeaS* question: what are some other cursed items besides the scrolls? |
Hanse | No other items will be in publish 16, as of yet... subject to change, of course! :) |
Kehleyr | na* If a red attacks an innocent the loot rules apply, however if an innocent attacks a red and died do the loot rules still apply? or can the red loot him dry. |
Adrick | if the innocent (blue) dies to a red he picked the fight with he keeps his stuff - there are no special cases for looting - if red or grey you lose 50% - if blue gold and gems.... |
Kehleyr | *Brador* how does the rez timer in dungeons work? |
Adrick | there is no rez timer per say - there is a no entry timer that starts when you die - its real time so you can log out and come back after it expires in 30 min |
Adrick | if you die in the dungeon or ll you will be ejected to the town of your choice if you are blue or the chaos shrine if you are red |
Adrick | (fel only) |
Kehleyr | *[DJ]Bergman* Will Buccs be classed as a dungeon area or not? Also why is boats placabel inside buccs and no other town? |
Hanse | Bucs Den will not be considered a dungeon area. |
Hanse | You can place boats in other towns. :) |
Kehleyr | *Neoptolemos* If blues can run around without gold or gems and attack any reds or greys they please, then where does the risk apply for Felluca if they lose nothing? |
Adrick | they risk their time - the fel changes are about risk vs reward in that to get the reward you run the risk of dying to other players and that at any time a group can come and challenge your claim to it |
Kehleyr | *vint* Whats Evil in a can? |
FierYiCe | Its our "pet" name for the Champions of Evil system. It is a dynamic spawn region that can change based on player interaction. |
FierYiCe | You fight monsters and tougher and tougher monsters will appear. |
FierYiCe | You can get special titles from killing these monsters, and ultimately summon a "boss monster." |
FierYiCe | Boss monsters will also give out the stat and skill scrolls in publish 16. |
FierYiCe | has lots of info at: http://uo.stratics.com/content/reputation/hero_titles.shtml |
Adrick | as well as lay some serious smack down :) |
Hanse | They wouldn't let me make a very very very very big mongbat boss monster, though. :( |
FierYiCe | And as of pub16 have fun with the "god monster" .... ;) |
Kehleyr | Thankyou everyone for taking the time to attend tonight's HOC and a special thankyou to everyone at Origin for being here to make it possible, as always we are grateful :) |
Kehleyr | The logs will be posted at http://uohoc.stratics.com |
