先日、オドリック（Odric）と名乗る正体不明の魔道師がロイヤルガード指揮官、エレイン・ベイフェリー（Elaine Beyfery）の命を救ったが、その代わりにロイヤルガードは、闇の女王ミナックス（Minax the Dark Mistress）によって奪われたオドリック家先祖伝来の品を取り戻すことを要求されたのであった。
ブリタニア全土のタウンクライヤーを通じて人々にこの作戦への協力が要請された。そして協力のためにロイヤルガード指揮官のもとへ集った冒険者たちに作戦の詳細が手短に説明され、彼らは直ちに行動を開始することとなった。
ロイヤルガードのキャプテンであるジョフリー卿（Sir Geoffrey）はユー地域にあるオーク砦に攻撃をかけるための部隊を結成した。オークの首領にしてミナックスの手先であるザロド（Zarod）も、この部隊を迎え撃つべく手下を配備していた。間もなく悪の女王ミナックス自身も戦地に姿を現し、戦闘は激化した。ジョフリー卿の部隊は不屈の努力を見せ、ザロドをついに討ち取るに至った。
コミュニケーションクリスタルによって戦況を確認していたエレインの率いる攻撃部隊は、ミナックスがユーに現るの報を受けるや否や、ミナックスの本陣と思われるヘッジメイズを攻撃するという第二の作戦を実行へとうつした。 エレインの計画は、ミナックスがユー地域での戦いに参加している間にミナックスの本陣を叩くというものであった。
ユー地域での戦闘が激化している中、エレインの率いる部隊はヘッジメイズに攻撃を仕掛け、オドリック家先祖伝来の品である輝く宝石（glowing gem）が埋め込まれたネックレスと一対のイヤリングを探し当てた。任務を果たしたエレイン率いる攻撃部隊はキャッスル・ブリタニアへと撤退し、ジョフリー卿の部隊の戻りを待った。
一方、ユーのミナックスは自分の根城に招かれざる者が訪れたことを察知したのだった。彼女のガード達が倒されると共に宝物が奪還された事を知ったミナックスは、即座にユー地域の戦地を離れる事となった。今回はロイヤルガードの勝利だった。約束の品を無事に取り返し、その上ここしばらく各地に現われていたオークの首領の一人を討伐する事に成功したのだ。ジョフリー卿の部隊はエレインの部隊と合流するために戦地を後にすることになった。
オドリックは指揮官と作戦に参加した冒険者たちの働きに感謝し、取引が終了したことを宣言した。去り際に、その正体不明の魔道師は今後ミナックスの行動に関する情報を手に入れることができるかも知れないとほのめかし、しかしそのためには新たに取引が発生することになるだろうと伝えた。そのような取引が必要なとき、彼は再び姿を現すことになるかもしれない。

Odric thanked the work of commanders and adventurers who participated in the strategy and declared that the transaction was over.
