Mages Discover Source of Ophidian Secret /

Author: Saax Pannae Published: August 25, 2006

The sudden and complete failure of teleportation spells near invaded cities, as well as the magical protection spells and various barriers, has confounded the finest minds from Britain to Moonglow these past weeks. Those adept with the mystic arts reported a sense of interference, as though the very ether itself had been twisted and bent.

A sudden breakthrough follows the combined efforts that restored these spells to Skara Brae, Serpent’s Hold, and Vesper. The mages responsible have reportedly isolated the interference to a location very close to Papua, explaining their inability to aid that city as well. There can be no doubt that deep within the Terathan Lair, the Ophidians have managed something previously unknown: a way to manipulate the ether itself.

As previously reported, walls of magical flame have enclosed the deepest part of the Terathan Lair, and assistance is being sought in penetrating the barrier. A call to all Grandmaster mages has gone out, as perhaps the joint efforts of our talented wizards can overcome the problem.

The spell used to create the flames is completely unknown, but there is a consensus that the proper invocation of certain Words of Power, combined with great magical ability, may be able to dispel the barrier. What lies beyond, however, is unknown.
