She could taste the salt of her tears as they streaked down her cheek, slipping into her mouth. She held her head heavy with grief and with her face in her hands shook it in disbelief. Everything she'd known was gone, everything she'd love had become lost to her. Alice knew from the first time she met James that they would one day be wed, and start a family. Now, with James recently appointed Stablemaster of one of Serpent's Holds two Livery operations, that dream seemed so much closer. Her dream quickly faded to her darkest nightmare. Alice wasn't quite sure why James would be of interest to such menacing types. From what she heard during the exchange with the group her husband refused to give them what they'd come for. That's the only reason she could think they'd take him. Alice sat in the dimly lit barn and rested her head against the thick wooden walls. She looked into the distance in a blank stare with tears of great sorrow hoping to be reunited with her husband...
