In the Shadow of Red Violet

He tore the armor from his body. His undergarments beneath were soaked through with sweat and his odor reflected that. Before last week he'd of merely enjoyed a long relaxing bath in his ornate marble tub, but now he was sequestered from such luxury. The fire light flickered against the stone walls of the cave. They weren't the best accommodations, but he'd known worse. All his assets had been seized, his political connections abruptly severed. He had what most important to him though. In a dark corner of the cave a lone wooden chest sat quietly covered in frost, and this brought a smile to his face.
